We here at The Delicate Pen hope that you had a wonderful Thanksgiving! To kick off the season of giving, we are giving away the items that are our most popular gift items. All you have to do is write a comment on any blog post that we posted in the month of November 2011 and you will be entered. Also, The Delicate Pen just joined Facebook! We know we are a little late to join this party, but you know how New Yorkers are, fashionably late! Please LIKE us on Facebook and you will also get an additional entry for one of the prizes. If you already liked our page prior to this contest announcement, we will of course still enter you in the contest, as a thank you for being a charter member!
There will be THREE prizes.
First is a set of 12 thank you notes hand-painted in the color of your choice with tissue linings and beautifully gift wrapped. They make the most luxurious and personal gift.
Second prize is a beautiful crystal box, with a hand calligraphed word or name of your choice. Give this to your bestest of best friend, a sister, mother, mother-in-law, teacher or office workers.
Thirdly, for one lucky winner we will hand calligraph a favorite personal short quote or saying. We can letter on one of our prints with a painted botanical, or with just the quote on your custom piece. Below is a sample of one of our prints, but we will tailor your prize to your needs.

The Delicate Pen and my savvy, stationer friends over at Pipo Press recently teamed up to create a baby announcement. The mother, Amy, was excited to announce a girl, after proudly having two boys previously. To announce a daughter for child number three was going to be great fun, so first I lettered the word “Daughter.” Pipo Press drop shaded the lettering for double impact. I then lettered the baby’s name, once it was decided upon. The White family moved into a new home at the same time of the baby’s birth, so we suggested they take the opportunity to use the announcement as an address notification as well. On the reverse side we lettered, “New residence….new resident” with the updated address and family’s name underneath. Pipo Press then did the final layout and printing on 5 by 7 cards with their signature curved corners, and voilá!
I love that baby Eloise has introduced herself to the world in hot pink instead of the traditional pastel shade. The middle name of “deNevue” is a family name and she will be lovingly called “Edie.”

It’s here! The long awaited NYC opening of our very own LaDurée, the Parisian patisserie, is here. I waited a couple months for the intial hoopla, and thus the two hour lines to die down, so I only had to wait half an hour to buy some macarons as a gift for a friend. (They were sold out of the caramels…the candies…and the chocolates.) I love a true shopping experience, and I got one here! I have not been to the patisserie in Paris…mental note: go to LaDurée in Paris..but people in the know say everything is up to snuff in this Big Apple version.
The two complementary fonts on the front window are perfection. I am already hooked. On the cue I go!

Thirty-five minutes. I’m in! Even the floor is stylish!

The flower arrangement alone was worth the wait, and it looks like I will be waiting- as each customer is given proper time to inquire about and select the flavor of their macarons.

“Pierre, oh Pierre….(his name really was Pierre)… One of each please… in a gift box! Oh, and an insulated bag to safely carry them on my 8 hour drive to deliver them. Three different pinks? How French! Mercí!”
