PALETTES | Delicate Pen
Fabulous colors, groovin’ music, wild imagination, and dancing fingers-this video has everything we love here at The Delicate Pen! This is exquisitely directed and choreographed! It makes me want to scrub off the days paints and inks and paint my nails red for my next calligraphy demonstration! What color will you pick!?!?
I don’t immediately think of red as a spring color, but on my jaunt to seek out flower displays, I had a change of heart.
Scarlet tulips at Rockefeller Center.
Red door in the West Village.
This lovely brownstone sported a house number that caught my eye. I love how the numeral one tips above the others. At first glance I thought it was the style, but upon taking a closer look, I think the number one may be a replacement number. The metal is different and the width seems inconsistent. Hmmm…everything has a story….wonder what this one is. The corners remind me of my first business card design. I will have to dig it up and post it!
Did you know that Pantone picks a color of the year? I am not a trend chaser by any stretch of the imagination, but I always like to see what the color will be! 2011’s color is called Honeysuckle and is a vibrant reddish pink. (I know. The honeysuckle I know is yellow, too, but there is a lesser known variety that is pink!) I think we all could use a little pink in our lives after this winter, even if it is called Honeysuckle! I most certainly could paint lovely pink flowers on your invitations and personal stationery in this shade. Did you know that the groundhog did NOT see his shadow yesterday and so it will be an early spring!
I was a guest for dinner over the weekend at a soiree hosted by Kelley L. Moore. (Take a look at her Friday blog post for a Give Away we are co- hosting.) Everything about the evening was perfect. I met the most interesting and talented people. I will share their talents, my new sources, with you as we continue our blog.
Here is the flower arrangement for our table of 10. These colors would be a perfect palette for a garden wedding. Place cards or menu cards in various shades of soft yellow and blush would be perfect. Yes, of course we do them. We hand paint the flowers on each one.
