Color of the year
Each year Pantone announces a color of the year. This year, 2012, it is Tangerine Tango. Orange is my least favorite color on the color spectrum, so I was a bit tepid in my first reaction to this color. But upon studying this tangerine, I have grown to appreciate the reddish tint with the burst of yellow. This is what Leatrice Eiseman, executive Director of the Pantone Color Institute® has to say about this year’s choice:
“Sophisticated, but at the same time dramatic and seductive, Tangerine Tango is an orange with a lot of depth to it. Reminiscent of the radiant shadings of a sunset, Tangerine Tango marries the vivaciousness and adrenaline rush of red with the friendliness and warmth of yellow, to form a high-visibility, magnetic hue that emanates heat and energy.”
Who doesn’t need a little tango this year? Let’s see how I can work this year’s color on to some stationery. Perhaps on some thank you notes for holiday gifts?
